Will Vietnamese sizes fit me?
The short answer: our sizes run small compared with US, UK and European sizing. Here are the actual measurements in centimetres and inches so you can check against yourself rather than trust a letter.
The Julie carries sizes S, M and L. In Western terms that is roughly US 2, US 4 and US 6–8 (UK 6, 8 and 10–12; EU 34, 36 and 38–40). Our largest size, L, has a bust of 92cm (36"), a waist of 72cm (28") and a hip of 98cm (38.5"). Our evening gowns are made in S and M only, so they stop at a bust of 88cm (34.5"). If your measurements are above these, message us before visiting and we will tell you honestly whether anything in the shop will fit you.

Evening gowns are made in S and M only. Everything else runs S to L.

How to check properly
- Measure the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level and not pulling it tight.
- Measure your natural waist — the narrowest part, usually just above the navel.
- Measure the fullest part of your hips, standing with your feet together.
- Compare those three numbers with the table above. Bust matters most for our dresses; if bust and hip point to different sizes, go with the bust.
Where our sizing stops
We are a small shop and each design is made in very small numbers. Sizes stop at L for our day, lace and floral dresses, and at M for the beaded evening gowns. We would rather write that plainly here than have you cross the city and find nothing fits. If you are outside our range, send us your measurements on WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger — we will tell you which pieces, if any, would work, and we will say so if the answer is none.
If nothing fits
Da Nang and Hoi An are full of excellent tailors who can make a dress to your exact measurements in a day or two, usually for a similar price to ours. That is genuinely the better route if you are outside standard Vietnamese sizing or you want something specific. Ask us and we will say so rather than sell you something that does not fit.
Sizing questions
What is a Vietnamese size L in US sizes?
At The Julie, size L is a bust of 92cm (36"), waist 72cm (28") and hip 98cm (38.5") — roughly a US 6 to 8, UK 10 to 12, or EU 38 to 40. Vietnamese sizing runs smaller than Western sizing, so check the centimetres rather than the letter.
Do you have plus sizes or extended sizes?
No. Our range stops at L (bust 92cm / 36") for dresses and at M (bust 88cm / 34.5") for the beaded evening gowns. If you are above that, a made-to-measure tailor in Da Nang or Hoi An will serve you far better, and we will happily say so.
How long are the dresses?
Short dresses are 75–80cm (29.5–31.5"), long and evening dresses are 130–135cm (51–53"), and skirts are 35–40cm (14–16"). The long dresses are cut to reach the ankle on someone around 1m60 (5'3") wearing heels.
Can I try things on in the shop?
Yes, there is a fitting room and you are welcome to try on as many as you like with no obligation. Message us first with what you want to see and we will have it hanging ready when you arrive at 246A Nui Thanh.
Can you alter a dress for me?
No, we do not do alterations. Try it on to get the right size; for a shorter hem or a closer fit, any tailor in Da Nang can help — but altered dresses cannot be exchanged.
